With proper care, white lilies have one of the longest vase lives, often lasting 10 to 14 days. The Fresh Cut: Trim stems by 2–3cm at a 45-degree angle. Cutting at an angle increases the surface area for maximum water uptake. Clean Water & Vase: Use a spotlessly clean vase with lukewarm water. Lukewarm water is absorbed more easily than cold water. Pollen Management: As the buds open, carefully snip off the yellow/orange anthers (the pollen bits) with scissors. This prevents staining on the white petals and nearby fabrics, and can even extend the life of the bloom. Bacteria Prevention: Strip any leaves that would sit below the waterline. Decaying leaves in water create bacteria that clog the stems. Daily Refresh: Change the water completely every 2 days and re-trim the stems slightly. Avoid Ethylene: Keep lilies away from ripening fruit and direct heat/sunlight, as these accelerate the aging process.
